Viking Classics: 48 Convertible

2002–09

An offshore contender with classic Viking lines, the spacious accommodations of the Viking 48 rival those of many larger convertibles.

INTERIOR

Frameless deckhouse windows flood the combined salon, galley and dinette and brings out the beauty of the varnished teak joinery.

Overview:  Distinguished by her graceful styling, the second-generation Viking 48 Convertible (the first Viking 48C was produced from 1985–90) retained the sophisticated engineering of Viking's larger yachts in a slightly smaller package. The wide 16'6" beam results in unusually spacious accommodations for a yacht this size. Frameless windows flood the salon with natural lighting highlighting the interior's varnished teak joinery and meticulous craftsmanship. The portside salon L-lounge can seat four before a teak coffee table, and the U-shaped galley features Atimco flooring as well as recessed appliances and under-counter refrigeration. Although an optional two stateroom floorplan was available, most 48's were delivered with the standard three-stateroom, two head layout with an amidships master suite. Both interiors include a companionway laundry center. The 130 sq. ft. cockpit sports a recessed fish box, bait prep station and direct access to the engine room. The bridge ladder is positioned athwartships over the salon steps to save cockpit space. Beginning with 2007 models, most Viking 48s were fitted with factory-installed mezzanine seating.

Power: Cat 1,015hp C-18 (or MAN 1,100hp V10) engines cruise the Viking 48 at 30 knots (34–35 top).
