Viking Classics: 45 Open
A solid performer with a layout perfect for fishing, the 45 Open is a top pick for anglers in the market for a big late-model express.
Privacy and comfort are assured a choice of single or twin stateroom layouts, both with a queen-size bed forward.
Overview: The Viking 45 Open is a premium big-water express designed to thrive in challenging sea conditions anglers often encounter. A proven tournament winner, the 45 is one of the few express fishing boats this size with a bridge deck large enough for three helm chairs. Single-lever electronic controls make maneuvering in close quarters easy, and—with minimal bow rise—helm visibility is good for a big express.. The 119 sq. ft. cockpit features an in-deck livewell flanked by a pair of deep stowage compartments, one of which can be made into a livewell. The molded console set against the aft bulkhead contains a bait freezer, rigging station, tackle stowage and engine room access. The step leading up to the bridge deck conceals an insulated drink box. The 45 Open was available with one or two staterooms. Both versions include a queen-size berth forward, and the twin stateroom plan provides upper and lower berths in the port cabin. Well-appointed and inviting, the tasteful salon is comfortable but a little tight—workable for four people but not a large family.
Power: Among several engine options, MAN V10 860hp diesels cruise at 28–30 knots. Optional 1,100hp MANs cruise at 32 knots (high 30s top).
