Ed McKnew has been involved in the marine industry since the mid 1970s, first as a yacht broker and later as the owner of brokerage firms in Michigan and Texas. He holds a business degree from Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan.

Writing the PowerBoat Guide is not Ed’s only passion. When he's not researching and writing about the boating industry, Ed spends his spare time pursuing his long-standing interest in Colonial and Civil War American history. After residing for many years in south Florida, Ed and his wife Shari reside in the northern Lake Michigan community of Traverse City, Michigan.
